    NY Deli in Charm City

Whenever in Baltimore I come to Attmans for Corn Beef special and it never lets me down washed down with Stewarts Cream Soda.  The corn beef is tender and warm stacked high on rye with cole slaw and swiss cheese.  This is ultimate comfort food but bring you appetite. Do not go if on diet!

    TL;DR: Attman's is ok-ish, but nothing special.

We tried a variety of items; only the matzah ball soup was really good.

    * Sandwiches were served on a kind of white bread, with a slight hint of rye, rather than a real rye bread with substance and crust (and taste). Moreover, at $10, they were small. And the sandwiches don't come with anything but their primary content -- lettuce, tomatoes, pickles all are extra cost items. On the plus side, the pastrami and the chopped liver inside were good.

    * Latkes were dry. Not sure how that is achieved. Too little potato? Not fried? They're not as good as the frozen latkes you can get at Trader Joe's.

    * Potato knish was bland; just pretty much unseasoned mashed potato in a pastry shell.

    * Matzah balls were good -- soft to the core. The soup tasted good, with neither too little nor too much salt.

If you're like me, you find yourself waiting and waiting in long lines.  Well, Attman's had a long line, which it always does, but it was so worth the wait.  I had confidence as I stepped to the line.
Cloak and Dagger is the best I've ever had.
We also got a chicken salad sandwich which was phenomenal.
If you're a true Baltimorean, than you've had your share of coddies (a/k/a phishcakes).  They make the best ever here.
It'd been several years since I'd gone to Attman's.  I'll be back sooner for my next visit.

Amazing! If you're looking for a great sandwich, this deli is the answer. Super busy, but they know how to operate and get you in & out. I ordered the Italian Stallion, my fiancé ordered the half fried chicken and western fries (wedge cut fries), and then when he saw them frying bologna for hotdogs he added one of those as well. PLENTY of food for us to enjoy for lunch and dinner tonight. The woman who took our order was super friendly. I think she could tell we were first-timers, because she made sure to inform us where to go next and asked if we wanted a pickle when we were checking out. She didn't seem bothered that we didn't think to order this in the beginning while placing our order with her. Classic deli pickled sliced into 4s to add the perfect touch to our meal. Thank god we live around the corner. We will be frequenting this establishment a lot!

We were starving and decided to place a grubhub order for Attmans. The menu was huge and we had a hard time deciding, but were fairly pleased with our choices. And it was fast!

My only complaint is they don't list the type of bread used for their sandwiches. My coworker ordered the turkey sandwich, and it was served on rye bread which she hates. Not sure if you can request different bread or not. And speaking of bread, it looked like just sliced sandwich bread (she wished it was a little more gourmet).

For my order, the crab soup was delicious. It didn't have big chunks of crab meet, but it definitely had the flavor and tasted fresh. Not sure it was worth $5.50 though, almost as mThe Caesar was great too: a basic traditional no-frills salad with great dressing. And at only $6 it's a good portion.

We would definitely order from here again but I think we would be a little smarter with our choices. The service was fast, food was fresh, and it's a great place if you just want a basic quick lunch.
